Who We Are

Home Who We Are

NearLawyers is an online directory that helps people in the United States find lawyers by legal issue and location. Searching the directory and contacting lawyers is free.

Who runs NearLawyers

NearLawyers is an independent project owned and operated by an individual based in Türkiye. It is not a law firm, and it is not affiliated with any law firm, bar association, court or government agency. We do not give legal advice, and nothing on this site creates a lawyer-client relationship.

Where lawyer profiles come from

Profiles on NearLawyers come from two sources:

Lawyers who list themselves. Lawyers can create a free profile and keep their own details up to date.
Publicly available information. Some profiles were compiled from information lawyers and law firms publish about their practice, such as office address, phone number and practice areas. These profiles are clearly marked Unclaimed until the lawyer claims them. They may be incomplete or out of date.

Before hiring any lawyer, confirm their license and good standing with the state bar.

How we make money

Basic listings are free. Lawyers can pay for featured placement, which shows their profile more prominently. Featured placement is advertising: it does not mean we have reviewed, verified or recommend a lawyer. We may also show advertising on some pages.

Our legal guides

Our Legal Guides explain common legal situations in plain English, such as what to do after a car accident or how bankruptcy works. They are general information, not legal advice. Laws vary by state and change over time, so we encourage readers to speak with a licensed lawyer about their own situation. If you spot an error in a guide, please tell us and we will correct it.

Corrections and removals

If you are a lawyer and want to claim, update or remove your profile, email help@nearlawyers.com. We handle removal requests within 7 days, and removed profiles are not added back. You can read more in our Privacy Policy.
